In a very moving evening of Paralympic sport on Friday night, it could be easy to argue that they inspired more hope in human potential than the actual Olympics themselves a few weeks ago! When do you see two 100m men’s runners embrace and wish each other good luck at the start and then for one to console the other at the end? Well, that’s exactly what Jonnie Peacock and Jared Wallace did.
Then there was the incredible 15 year old Ellie Robinson who won gold in the 50m women’s butterfly, not to mention the deeply moving and inspiring one-legged high jumpers.
The humility, lack of ego, camaraderie and courage shown by these men and women is astounding! They have suffered more than many of us yet they have an emotional and mental strength that many of us would wish for. They have taken their challenges and used them to become the best in the world at what they do.
Here are the highlights of Britain’s Jonnie Peacock winning the 100m. Watch how the athlete’s embrace each other afterwards and how he thanks everyone who has helped him along the journey, he doesn’t make it about him and what he did, he makes it about others. A true legendary example of humility.

It’s time you did. It’s time we all did.
The biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK is suicide. Despite all the horrible diseases we could contract, accidents we could be in or potential ways we could kill each other, we’re still killing ourselves more frequently than any of those things.”
Mental and emotional health is a such a crucial area that we must bring more into the mainstream. It’s something we all need support and guidance with because we are never taught at school how to deal with our emotions. If you’d like any support and advice just contact us on live chat here.

Many companies like this provide incentives and targets that employees are so desperate to meet that they will often do almost anything to meet them. One has to ask, is the way many big companies are run fit for purpose anymore or does something fundamental need to change?
