VIDEO – The Heartbreaking Stories Behind The Refugee Photos – Legends Report

A Dose of Reality To Get You Thinking

By James Mills, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International

Over the past few months, we have probably seen hundreds, possibly thousands, of images of refugees from Syria and other war-torn parts of the world. The more of these images we see, the easier it can be to forget that each face contains a story of both tragedy and hope from fleeing a home and losing everything. On World Refugee Day (20th June), Oxfam has released the video below from the photojournalist Sam Tarling. He shares the heartbreaking stories and experiences of photographing refugees from Syria who have settled in the Lebanese city of Beirut. This is a powerful video that helps us to humanise the images we may have already seen and will continue to see in the mass media…

Whilst refugees face incredibly challenging circumstances, many still live with hope and in spite of seemingly having nothing to offer, there are legends who have managed to make an incredible difference to the places they have moved to. For the 2015 World Refugee Day Richard Branson wrote about the impact that refugees have made and the story of Alex Assali shows us what current refugees are doing to serve those in need.
