Bill Gates is perhaps best-known as one of the principal founders of Microsoft Corporation, which he set up with Paul Allen in 1975. In 2006 he announced he was stepping down from full-time to part-time at Microsoft so as to dedicate himself completely to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which he initially set up in 2000. Even though Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard University after only 2 years, he went on to become a very successful businessman. His net worth is now over $97 billion dollars.
So how did he do it?
He shares in his first video, that it has been said that if you put in 10,000 hours you will become a master at anything, which on the one hand he agrees with but says that we need to start with small steps…
He suggests that we can start with even 50 hours. Imagine where you might be if you put in 50 dedicated hours of practice into anything. The key is, if you are passionate enough about what you are doing you will keep going. It’s not about how many hours you do, it’s WHY you are doing them and WHAT you want to achieve that’s most important.
Because of his dedication and commitment to getting Microsoft off the ground, Bill Gates surrounded himself with a high-tech team and put everything into it. He was even known to fall asleep in his office due to the hours he worked! Eventually, the effort paid off and Microsof became what it is today. So, the question is,
