Five Former US Presidents Show Unity For Hurricane Victims
By Asif Valiji, Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International
All five living former US presidents came together recently for a fundraiser for the victims of the recent storms in the U.S.. Former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush appeared on stage together at a concert to support the ‘One America Appeal.’ President Trump issued a 2-minute video message for the appeal too saying:
“Now, as we begin to rebuild, some of America’s finest public servants are spearheading the One America Appeal. Through this effort, all five living former presidents are playing a tremendous role in helping our fellow citizens recover,”
This show of unity is in contrast to recent critisms of Mr Trump from the former Presidents who have said President Trump has instigated a great deal of political division within the country. Indeed this story highlights the power of coming together and uniting for a common cause with the motive of wanting to help others and setting aside individual differences.
While legends may have their differences in opinion, their willingness to set aside their negative feelings and take responsibility to help others, sets a better example for us all. We all have our challenges each day at work, with our families and friends but it’s vital that we keep sight of the things that unite us and not divide us.
