Australia’s Incredible World Record | Being On Time By Richard Branson | Latest Legendary Tweets – Legends Report

The Olympic games can often produce stunning examples of human potential. In the first day of swimming this weekend the Australian womens 4x 100m relay team beat their own world record! However, that wasn’t the most sensational thing about the race. It was the fact that every single team, including last place Japan who finished 7 seconds adrift would have won a silver medal at the Sydney games in the year 2000! So in 12 years there had been an incredible improvement in the race.

The simple fact is that we don’t know what the true limits of human potential are. We don’t know what we are truly capable of as human beings. Imagine if we could apply this to many areas of our lives individually and collectively. It shows with the right support, coaching and training that huge improvements are possible in our lives. As the Guardian reported:

“It was a decidedly speedy final, with all the medalists swimming faster than the 2012 gold winners. The entire pool swam times worth a medal in Sydney in 2000. Japan’s time, 7 secs behind Australia’s, would have been good enough for silver back then.”

In his blog on Friday 5th August, Richard Branson posted a powerful and simple lesson on how he has become so successful. We often talk about discipline being one of the foundational elements of a legend’s success and his recent blog powerfully demonstrates this. He said:

“I’m often asked: how am I able to squeeze so much into my days? My answer is always the same – and simple – if you want to be more productive then start at the start: get there on time.

I’ve always disliked being late. Not only does it put my plans out, but I also find it to be incredibly disrespectful. It doesn’t matter if you’re a celebrity or a carpenter, a politician or a painter, a model or a musician, we all only have 24 hours in a day, and no one’s time is more important than anybody else’s.

Punctuality is something that everyone should work on. I’ve made it a priority throughout my life. So much so that I’m known for doing whatever it takes to beat the clock. In fact, I’ve developed a habit of (safely) jumping out of cars while in traffic, and running to my next appointment. My team are no longer surprised to find themselves trailing after me on the footpath or into the Underground, laptops, high heels or tennis rackets flailing behind.”
