Rio 2016 – Michael Phelps Returns In More Ways Than One! – Legends Report

A Dose of Wisdom To Get You Thinking

By Jatinder Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International

Michael Phelps won four gold medals at the London Olympics in 2012 and has just won another in Rio to take his overall tally to 19 gold medals. He has become the most decorated Olympian of all time. Yet, despite his victories, it has emerged just how unhappy Mr Phelps was in his personal life. He has been caught drink-driving and taking drugs a few times and has admitted how low he felt about himself.

Nevertheless with support, Michael Phelps has returned to form and is back for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Watch this advert by his sponsor Under Armour that gives us a glimpse into how hard he trains…

Here’s another video of Michael Phelps, and his partner, actually seeing the advert for the first time. His tears and humility show just how much he has gone through. For him to say that he has felt scared, and that he has now realised he didn’t have to “do it alone” shows how human, legends really are. Legends push themselves hard, and thus develop the mental and emotional strength to get through the challenging times. They learn most of all, that they can’t do it by themselves. Human beings need support to achieve anything, especially their potential…
