Yesterday in cities around the world, thousands of people celebrated and honoured the life and legacy of British MP Jo Cox. The event in London saw Mrs Cox’s husband Brendan speak, along with many moving tributes to her. Here’s what some of those who attended shared on the day…

“In the news you hear about extremists winning. In fact I’m seeing it from a different view. They tried to divide and it’s uniting, that’s inspiring for me…we have more in common. That will definitely be my ethos.” – Ze

“It’s amazing what people can do in a short space of time. Instead of looking at Jo’s death, look at how quickly people came together.” – Ivy

“We knew Jo. She was this tower of strength…we are here to carry the torch forward for her.” – Alex

“Last week when I heard, it just floored me. It was just after Orlando and I’m heavily involved in the refugee crisis…this is something Jo would have loved. I don’t feel that same level of despair now. I’m going to throw that energy into all my work.” – Yasmin

“It’s made me feel even more passionate about what I hold very dear and I how I can become more involved in that work.” – Natalie

One of the key messages from the memorial in London was to encourage all of us to remember Mrs Cox by striving to live the values she lived. To love, to empathise, to care and to take courage when faced with a great challenge…we wish her family strength and peace in their time of grieving their mother, wife and friend.

Here’s a report on the tribute itself…

Mother’s Heartfelt Gun Crime Plea Goes Viral

By James Mills, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International

Last week a mother in Michigan posted a seemingly innocent and quirky photo of her daughter on Facebook which has since gone viral. The reason for this was not because her 3-year-old daughter was stood on the toilet, but it was why her daughter adopted such a position. Please take a few minutes to read Stacey Feeley’s post below…

The biggest thing that Stacey Feeley’s post does is present this highly emotive issue in a grounded way that acknowledges the reality of the situation. Time and time again she stresses how much we all need to collaborate and actively look for solutions – not looking to blame, but instead offering whatever help she can whilst inspiring others to come together. We sincerely hope that more will respond to her plea to develop positive outcomes.

The emotions around the impact of gun crime have also been hugely felt by leaders including US President Barack Obama. You may want to learn more about why he cried over gun control.

Elon Musk is no stranger to seeing the potential in companies and industries. Having founded a pioneering internet company in Paypal and the electric car company; Tesla Motors, he is now merging two of his companies to create the first…

“vertically integrated energy company offering end-to-end clean energy products to our customers”

The merger between electric car maker Telsa Motors and solar panel maker SolarCity will, according to Mr Musk, create a combined company worth over $1 trillion.

“I think when people, as we’re down the road, not even far down the road, next year, but particularly as you go further into the future, their numbers are going to seem like a very small, very small number,” Elon Musk said.

“When I think of a combined automotive and power-storage and power-generation company and the potential for Tesla to be a $1 trillion company in market cap.”

Legends see potential where others may not see anything at all. Having created 2 billion dollar companies, would you bet against Elon Musk in this instance? We wouldn’t. Read more at Business Insider here…
