It is with immense sadness that we report the tragic murder of Labour MP Jo Cox yesterday. Mrs. Cox was campaigning in her constituency to remain in the EU ahead of next week’s referendum. She was brutally killed on the street by one of her constituents who opposed her views.

So much has been said about her kind heart and her prior roles working in the charity sector. Here are a few of the tributes that have been left by her fellow MP’s and friends that express who she was as a person.

PM on Jo Cox: We’ve lost a great star. Jo was a great campaigning MP with huge compassion & a big heart. My thoughts are with her family.

Pauline & I are devastated to hear of Jo Cox’s murder. A brilliant campaigner & local MP. Such a terrible loss to her family and to us all.

No lesson from this tragedy can be better expressed than the words from Mrs. Cox’s husband Brendon who said,

“She would have wanted two things above all else to happen now, one that our precious children are bathed in love and two, that we all unite to fight against the hatred that killed her. Hate doesn’t have a creed, race or religion, it is poisonous.”

We wish her family the best in this most challenging of times.

Yesterday after a 6 hour UK parliamentary meeting between the former owner of high street department store BHS and MP’s, Sir Philip Green has apologised to all 11,000 staff who are impacted by the demise of the retail giant. He also promises to resolve the £571m pension deficit which impacts 20,000 people.

Frank Field, chairman of the work & pensions committee and Iain Wright, chairman of the business, innovation and skills committee, said in a joint statement that Sir Philip:

“…is before the bar of public opinion. Much of his reputation now depends on how generously he responds.”

This highlight’s that there are no actions without consequences. Not just Sir Philip’s reputation, but his Knighthood too will depend on his response. No one, including the most powerful and successful, is immune to the consequences of their actions and the impact they have on other people. Read more here…

We read in the news all the time about many terrible and saddening things happening in the world, almost every day. The unjustifiable killing of 49 people in Orlando was one of the most terrible to shake our view of humanity recently, but it’s in times like these that we also have the opportunity to learn, understand and come closer together.

When such events happen we tend to hear a lot about the details of the event, about the victims and most of all the perpetrator/s and their motives… But what about the people who’s lives have been affected by such tragedy, what about the friends and the family of those lost? What are the private and deeply felt consequences of such actions? CNN has produced a very moving account of people in the Orlando LGBT community who all lost people they knew. It’s a humbling reminder that the results of all actions have consequences far beyond those that we see.

“We will make good come from this, we will make our voices heard even louder now. If you didn’t hear us before, you’re going to hear us now. If you didn’t think the rainbow was bright on us before, the rainbow will shine brighter now!” ~ Giovanni Nieves, an Orlando Hairstylist
